A career in care looks bright for 19 year old Cain
A much-respected and loved care home in Oldbury is delighted to announce that 19-year-old care worker Cain Phoenix is looking forward to inspiring his peers as he celebrates 12-months as a full-time care professional.
Cain, 19, began working for Newbury Manor in Oldbury as IT and admin support in August 2020, but a chance opportunity to help the residents one day was enough to convince him that a career in care was for him.
He is now inspiring other young people and encouraging them to put aside their preconceptions about the profession and ‘go for it’ because he believes that there is no other job as rewarding.
Commenting, he said: “I didn’t ever expect to be in this job, but I can say wholeheartedly that it is the most rewarding career, no two days are ever the same and the people I work with and alongside absolutely make it for me.”
Cain says that his friends have questioned his choice of career, but he loves that they ask questions.
He adds: “I like to see their faces change when I tell them the variety of tasks I have to do each day – and it’s because of this I love it.
“I’m not sitting in front of a computer all day doing the same repetitive job – I am enriching the lives of those who have worked tirelessly for all of their life, and helping them to not just have good days but the best days of their lives here at Newbury Manor.”
