Nancy celebrates a century!
Nancy Smart, a beloved centenarian from Rowley Regis, recently celebrated her remarkable milestone birthday in style at her care home Newbury Manor in Oldbury, surrounded by joy, laughter, and cherished memories.
The vibrant atmosphere of the occasion was set by her family and the dedicated staff, who organised a delightful party with colourful balloons, cakes, food and drink.
Born and raised in Overend Cradley, Nancy's journey through life was enriched by her passion for floristry and her active involvement in the local green grocers.
Her love for walking and singing she embraced wholeheartedly and was actively involved in the Hurst Green WI. Alongside her late husband Norman, Nancy shared 54 years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments.
Together, they nurtured a loving family, raising two children, Janet and David, who continue to live nearby and who visit her regularly.
Reflecting on her extraordinary milestone, Nancy expressed her disbelief at reaching the century mark, adding a touch of whimsy by mentioning a birthday card received from none other than King Charles.
Both Janet and David, Nancy's children, conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the team at Newbury Manor for an unforgettable celebration for their mother. They said, "It's been fantastic to celebrate with mom, and we'd like to say thank you to the team at Newbury Manor for making her birthday so special as well as the cards and well wishes sent by the children from St Philips Catholic Primary School."
As family and friends gathered, the atmosphere brimmed with warmth, love, and appreciation for a life well-lived. Nancy's centennial celebration stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of resilience, love, and joy that continues to inspire all who have had the privilege of knowing her.
