International Women’s Day at Newbury Manor

On the 8th March, Newbury Manor was filled with love and appreciation as we celebrated International Women’s Day. From our wonderful female residents to the dedicated staff, it was a lovely opportunity to remember and honour the incredible women who make Newbury Manor such an amazing place and to admire their kindness and strength they bring to our community.

The home was filled with laughter and smiles as we took the moment to share stories, reminisce, and reflect on the achievements and contributions of the women in our community. Our residents have lived through decades of change, raising families, building careers, and making a difference in their own unique ways. It was a privilege to hear their memories and reflect on just how much women have contributed to the world around us.

To mark the occasion, we decorated the home with flowers and handed out roses and chocolate to each resident and team member — a token of love and respect for all they bring to Newbury Manor. The smiles on their faces as they received their flowers were truly heartwarming. It was a reminder of how important it is to show appreciation, not just on special days, but every day.

“We wanted the day to feel truly special for everyone,” said Kam Kaur, Home Manager. “The women in our home have led such rich and inspiring lives, and it’s an honour to celebrate them.”

The team organised thoughtful activities to bring people together, and the lounge buzzed with laughter and conversation. Over tea and treats, residents and staff shared moments of connection, enjoying each other’s company and reflecting on what the day meant to them.

The day was filled with meaningful conversations, delicious refreshments, and a shared sense of gratitude. Some residents reminisced about the women who inspired them: mothers, sisters, teachers, and friends, while others simply enjoyed the company and the joy of being celebrated. It was a day to pause, appreciate, and reflect on the power of women supporting one another.

International Women’s Day at Newbury Manor wasn’t just about marking a date on the calendar, it was about taking the time to appreciate the women who shape our lives every single day. It was a day filled with love, reflection, and the simple joy of being part of a caring, supportive community.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s celebration, but in the meantime, we’ll continue to carry the spirit of the day with us — always grateful for the remarkable women who make Newbury Manor feel like home!
