Celebrating VE Day
VE Day at Newbury Manor was a truly special occasion that brought everyone together on Thursday 8th May.
The garden was filled with laughter, conversation and sunshine, as residents, staff and visitors came together to mark the day. With Union Jack bunting and bright decorations all around, the home was transformed, filled with colour and celebration.
The atmosphere was full of energy and warmth, the highlight for many was our brilliant live singer, who performed a lovely set of wartime favourites and timeless classics. It wasn’t long before residents were singing along, smiling and even dancing to the music.
The team also prepared a generous buffet full of tasty treats, from traditional finger food to home-baked cakes. There was plenty of chatting, laughter and reminiscing over cups of tea, and the sense of connection was clear to see.
“Many of our residents lived through the war or were raised by those who did,” said Kam Kaur, Home Manager: “Days like this help us honour their experiences while also giving them something to smile about in the present.”
Events like these remind us just how powerful music and shared moments can be. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make it such a special day for our residents.
