Newbury team celebrates Care Certificate success
January has brought with it a wonderful sense of pride and positivity here at Newbury, as we celebrated the graduation of our latest group of team members from our Flourish internal training programme.
Seeing our staff complete their Care Certificates is always a special moment for us and it represents far more than the end of a course. It reflects dedication, compassion and a genuine commitment to providing the very best care for our residents. Every member of the team who took part worked incredibly hard both academically and in person.
Our manager Kam Kaur says: "As a family-run Group, we strongly believe in investing in our people. We know that when our team feels supported and empowered, that care and confidence naturally flows through to our residents and families. Internal training is at the heart of what we do and the Flourish programme plays a key role in that journey, it allows our staff to grow in knowledge, skills and confidence, all while being guided and encouraged every step of the way.
"We often say that our team is our work family and that is something we genuinely live by. Looking after our staff development is just as important to us as looking after those who live with us. When our team members thrive, the whole home benefits. It creates a warm, stable and caring environment where residents feel safe, valued and truly at home."
The Care Certificate is a vital foundation for anyone working in care. It ensures that staff are equipped with the essential standards, from understanding dignity and respect, to communication, safeguarding and person-centred care. Completing this training shows not only professionalism, but also a deep respect for the responsibility that comes with caring for others.
Earlier this year, we reflected on similar achievements in July, where staff graduated with flying care colours. It is lovely to see that same spirit continuing into the new year, with more of our team stepping forward to build their skills and confidence. It is a clear sign that learning and development are very much part of everyday life at Newbury Manor.
There is something particularly uplifting about starting the year with such positive news. It sets the tone for the months ahead and reminds us why we do what we do. Care is not just a job, it is a vocation built on kindness, patience and genuine human connection.
To everyone who took part in the Flourish programme and successfully completed their Care Certificates, we would like to say a huge congratulations. Your hard work has not gone unnoticed and we are incredibly proud to have you as part of the Newbury Manor family.
